Chase Consultancy has developed Chase WebView. This toolbox allows Gentran* users to view, monitor, and administer their Gentran* system over the internet or intranet. Chase WebView is configurable to meet your needs, e.g. allow untrained users to monitor your Gentran* system, allow global monitoring, and allow external customers to view their documents as they pass through your Gentran* system.

Chase WebView is built around security, so whether it is used internally or externally you can be safe in the knowledge that only documents that users are allowed to see will be displayed.

Chase WebView Case Study

The Company

Wella UK - Wella is one of the world’s leading cosmetics suppliers. Founded in 1880, the company is represented in over 150 countries.

This gives the beauty specialist enterprise the market presence and customer partnership necessary for success and growth on all the relevant markets. Wella distributes, manufactures and carries out research around the globe, across all borders and regions.

Global brands, employee mobility and international presence form the basis of a global company philosophy, and the company’s three divisions are exclusively dedicated to the cosmetics area: Hair Cosmetics Professional, Hair Cosmetics Consumer and Cosmetics and Fragrances.

The Challenges

As Wella increases its use of EDI throughout Europe, they need a solution that allows EDI to flow through one central point in the UK, but at the same time allowing users from other countries to view the transaction. However due to bandwidth restrictions and the complications of training, Sterling Commerce’s Gentran:Server* Clients could not be the answer.

The Solution

The decision was made to continue the use of Sterling Commerce’s Gentran:Server* and also use Chase Consultancy’s WebView. This resulted in no additional software needing to be installed on the EDI administrators PC, and little to no training. WebView was also given the look and feel of Wella’s own internal intranet. In addition to this each country had restricted access to only view their own data, e.g. Ireland could not see UK data, and vice versa.

* Gentran and Gentran:Server are products of Sterling Commerce and are not Chase Consultancy products.
